Do you qualify for assistance?
Helping Hand serves individuals and families without sufficient income to provide for the basic needs of both local residents and travelers 'just passing through.' Helping Hand provides these services regardless of age, race, gender, religious preference, political affiliation, nationality or sexual orientation. Helping Hand may be able to provide rental (eviction, move-in, and application fees) and utility (electric, natural gas, water, propane, and garbage) assistance when presented with written documentation of a need. Other special emergency needs can be addressed if deemed necessary to stabilize the household. Helping Hand may be able to provide vouchers for overnight emergency lodging, laundry, small auto repairs and tires for travel to work, school or medical needs. Vouchers may also be available to fill medically necessary medication prescriptions at local pharmacies, birth certificates or other miscellaneous fees. Specific amounts of the above services are determined by the individual needs of the client and the availability of funds. The Board of Directors sets guidelines for frequency of eligibility of assistance. Helping Hand works closely with other area agencies to fulfill the needs of each household. Information needed to provide assistance
Helping Hand asks all applicants to fill out an intake form. The form asks for the applicant's name and address, and the names, ages and Social Security Numbers for all household members, household income sources and amounts. This information allows Helping Hand to keep statistical records which help in assessing needs in our community. Documentation of need must be provided and other proof may be required for financial services. Types of verification needed
