 UMATILLA COUNTY

Pendleton Area:

 CAPECO Food Share Office/Special Projects

CAPECO Food Share always needs help with general office work (answering phones, filing, data input, etc.) and special projects.  Generally, we ask that office volunteers establish a somewhat regular schedule (i.e. every Monday morning).  For more information call Paula at 541-966-4210.

 CAPECO Food Share Warehouse Assistance

CAPECO Food Share maintains a 10,000 square foot facility.  Volunteers can assist in filling food orders, helping with the general cleaning (sweeping and mopping floors, dusting, etc.) and help with loading and unloading of food products.  Some tasks require heavy lifting and not suitable for youth.  For more information call Rodney at 541-276-5073.

 CAPECO Food Share Repack Projects

CAPECO Food Share occasionally receives quality food donations from local food companies that need to be repackaged for quick distribution to local agencies.  Volunteers of any age can assist with receiving and repackaging of product.  For more information call 541-276-5073.

 Community Garden Project

CAPECO Food Share operates and maintains a community garden located in Pendleton.  Garden enthusiasts – experienced and novice – are welcome to come play in the dirt.  Food grown in the garden will go to low-income individuals and families accessing emergency food.  Volunteers of any age group can get involved.  For more information call Amy at 541-276-5073.

 CAPECO Food Share Special Events

CAPECO relies on special events to support the food program.  Volunteers can help us plan and execute a variety of food drives and other fundraisers.  For more information call Amy at 541-276-5073.

 St. Mary’s Outreach

St. Mary’s Outreach is a local food pantry providing food and clothing to disadvantaged households residing in the greater Pendleton area.  Volunteers can help with unloading the monthly shipment of commodities (this requires heavy lifting and not suitable for young children) and volunteer in the processing of food and clothing donations. For specific volunteer tasks and available shifts call Chris Adelman at 541-276-2878.

 Helping Hand

Helping Hand is an ecumenical ministry providing goods and services to persons in need of assistance.  Volunteers can offer assistance doing general clerical work (answering phones, filing, screening inquiries) and janitorial work (sweeping, vacuuming and cleaning offices).  Volunteers are needed for food distribution for Fridays including:  picking up donations, sorting and stocking shelves.  Also, providing direct client distribution of food boxes on Fridays 9-11:30 a.m.  For more information call Marci at 276-3418.

 Salvation Army Congregate Meal Program

Salvation Army provides a noon meal to homeless and low-income individuals Monday through Friday.  SA has volunteer opportunities from 15 minutes to four hours in length.  All of the opportunities are structured such that any age can contribute.  There are shifts available in the morning and afternoon.  Volunteers are needed to prepare, serve and clean up each day.  For more information call Dave Kyle at 541-276-3369.

Milton-Freewater Area:

 Seventh-Day Adventist Community Service Center

The SDA Community Service Center could is looking for volunteers who enjoy and possess the skills of organization.  Volunteers will help with general office work (answering phones, filing, data input, etc.) and special projects.  Generally, we ask that office volunteers establish a somewhat regular schedule (i.e. every Monday morning).
