The Senior Services' Component houses the Area Agency on Aging which provides a variety
of services to the senior citizens of our region. These services include operation, staffing and
funding of senior meal sites, coordination of Meals on Wheels, a variety of senior activities and
provisions of services such as homemakers and care givers to enable seniors to remain in their
homes as long as possible. In addition, this component manages the Retired Senior Volunteer
Program (RSVP). Also visit

The Senior Services component houses the Area Agency on
Aging (AAA), which offers services such as Meals-on-Wheels, homemaker assistance and
other services that help make independent living a viable option. By making a range of
options available, AAA makes it possible for older individuals to choose the services
and living arrangement that best suit them.
These services assist both the frail older person who can remain at home if
they receive the right services to those who are healthy and can benefit from
the activities and socialization provided by community-based programs such as senior
centers. The following services outline the opportunities available to the seniors
residing in Umatilla and Morrow Counties.
- Senior Centers - a gathering place where older adults can enjoy social, physical
and recreational activities. Senior Centers may serve as congregate meal sites.
- Congregate Meals - group meals served at senior centers, schools and other sites
for the purpose of providing a nutritious meal in a social environment.
- Meals-on-Wheels - mid-day and evening meals delivered to individuals who cannot shop
or prepare their own meals, often by a volunteer who also provides a sense of security and social contact to a homebound individual.
- Homemakers - assistance with tasks essential to maintaining a household, such as
grocery shopping and housekeeping.
- Respite Care - a break for family members from care giving responsibilities.
- RSVP - offers seniors the opportunity to share their lifetime experiences, time and
talent to enhance their community through volunteer service, in turn enriching the lives
of older persons by providing them the opportunities to participate more fully in their communities.
- Information and Assistance - Provides current information on services available within
their communities, assess problems and capacities of individual; link individuals to
the opportunities and services.
- Legal Assistance - Through contract with Oregon Legal Services, provide legal advice,
counseling and representation by an attorney or other person acting under the
supervision of an attorney.

Case Management - Assistance in either access or care coordination. Includes assessing
needs, developing care plans, authorizing services, arranging services, coordinating
the provision of services among providers and follow-up and reassessment of care plans.
- Health Screening - Screening activities that determine a persons physical, mental
health or nutritional status.
- Wellness Education - Health promotion programs, including programs related to chronic
disabling conditions, substance abuse, stress management, weight loss and control,
and providing information about the availability of benefits and appropriate use
of other preventive health services or programs.
- Friendly Visiting - Visits to physically, geographically
or socially isolated individuals.
- Volunteer Opportunities - The Retired
and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) offers seniors opportunities to share
lifetime experiences, time and talent to enhance their community through
volunteer service.
