Volunteers Are Needed
Volunteers make a difference by contributing their time, energy, and talents to the causes they hold dear.
Volunteering has become a meaningful activity for all ages—adolescents, adults within the work force, and retirees. CAPECO has a number of volunteer opportunities.
Volunteers perform a variety of tasks for CAPECO such as developing a project, helping with fundraising, driving someone to a medical appointment, visiting homebound individuals, working with community groups, and a whole host of other tasks. You can take your experience and put it to good use or learn something new to make a difference in someone’s life. The choice is yours, as the opportunities are endless.
There are three distinct areas of CAPECO that can utilize volunteer service. Some are short-term one-time service while others require a longer commitment.
These areas are:

RSVP Volunteer services began life on April 1, 1974. RSVP matches volunteers up with local non-profits, governmental agencies, or educational settings such as schools, colleges, or universities. Volunteers can use their previous experience or develop new skills to help within the community as the possibilities are endless.
Volunteers determine the amount of time they wish to give and this time can be as short as an hour a month, or it can be as extensive as 40 hours a week. Statistics have shown that we live longer, healthier, and more productive lives when we have a purpose. Many agencies and organizations could not operate without the dedicated service of volunteers.
When you sign up to serve with RSVP, we ask you to complete a Skills and Interests page. That information is then entered into our Volunteer Data Base and used to match you with a potential volunteer site. Many times Volunteer Stations contact us with new positions and describe to us their needs. With that information we put together a position description for our volunteers.
If you have always wanted to explore an opportunity for a position, here is your chance. We have sites such as the Historical Society, Museums, Extension Service, local elementary schools, transportation services, community centers, money management services, friendly visiting, and city government. And, this is just the tip of the iceberg.
RSVP is part of the Corporation for National & Community Service and makes up one third of the Senior Corps. Together with Foster Grandparents and Senior Companions, RSVP strives to meet the needs of the community through service.
